Qatar will host the T100 Triathlon World Championship Final until 2029

Visit Qatar, Qatar’s tourism promoter, has teamed up with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), World Triathlon, and the Qatar Triathlon Federation to announce that Qatar will host the final of the T100 Triathlon World Tour for the next five years, starting in December 2025.

The Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will take place in Doha from December 11-13, marking the end of the season.

PTO CEO Sam Renouf explained that the long-term partnership with Qatar is important for their strategy. “We want the T100 Triathlon World Tour to visit famous places and be like other sports where there’s one final ‘hero’ destination,” he said.

“This five-year partnership with Visit Qatar helps us achieve this, making the series known as the T100 Race to Qatar. Qatar is a growing tourist destination, attracting over five million visitors last year.”

The event will include both amateur and professional races, with amateur athletes also having a chance to compete in the T100 Age Group World Championship. The PTO and World Triathlon will create a qualification system based on T100 race results and National Federation slots.

Abdulaziz Al-Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, spoke about Qatar’s goal to become a major global sports center. “This event shows Qatar’s growing status as a top sports destination, proving our commitment to hosting world-class international sports events.”

Competition details

The 2025 T100 Triathlon World Tour will have a 2-kilometer swim in the Arabian Gulf, followed by an 80km bike ride and an 18km run through Doha and Lusail, passing landmarks like Lusail Stadium, the site of the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.

The tour will have nine races, starting in Singapore (April 5-6), with stops in San Francisco, Vancouver, France, London, Spain, Lake Las Vegas, and Dubai, before ending in Qatar. Top athletes, including Olympic champions and World Championship winners from 13 countries, will compete, including defending champions Taylor Knibb and Marten Van Riel.

Athletes must race in at least five T100 events during the season. Their four best results and their performance in the Qatar final, where points are doubled, will decide their final ranking.

2024 event

The 2024 T100 Triathlon World Tour began with top male and female triathletes competing in cities like Singapore, San Francisco, London, Ibiza, Las Vegas, and Dubai.

The first final in Dubai saw nearly 10,000 amateur athletes participate in various races, and this trend is expected to continue in Doha.
